Isometric Drawing is a technique, like perspective drawing, that is used by illustrators and designers to represent three-dimensional forms on a two-dimensional picture plane. Isometric drawings map all objects of equal dimensions as the same size, regardless of their position.

This means that that objects do not diminish in size the more they recede from view, like perspective drawing. Read this article if you want a more technical and in depth explanation of isometrics.
